to be honest I think working on a sewing machine strains my eyes as much as being on a computer does. However, I am incentivized to remain alert and focused by keeping my fingers within stabbing distance of a needle making 60 stitches per minutes.

It’s a Juki TL-2000Qi semi-industrial sewing machine and it can probably sew through solid steel.


It does exactly two things, a forward straight stitch and a backward straight stitch, and you’ll be GODDAMN grateful it even lets you do that. You want to do zig zags? Get fucked.

Threading it takes about 10 steps and feels like trying to defuse a bomb. It’s got a side fed bobbin case that takes an additional 3 or 4 steps to thread. If it’s not sharp or strong enough, it’ll snap through a heavy duty needle and without even slowing down, no matter stopping, sending the tip flying through the air at speeds capable of sending a piece of straw through a telephone pole. It’s compatible with exactly 0 of any other parts from any other brand machine except sometimes needles and it has a palpable air of bloodlust surrounding it.


But it’ll sew through 4 layers of denim like a hot knife through butter.

Nearly everyone returned their bottles; it was a huge success. When they switched to plastic in the 50’s it became more profitable to just toss bottles away so they used shell organizations to secretly lobby congress and senates to kill recycling bills while simultaneously creating massive ad campaigns to convince the public that recycling was all the consumer’s responsibility. This isn’t a conspiracy theory, it’s public knowledge that gets drowned out in the noise made by their PR firms.

Last year Coca-Cola was still up to the same environmental villainry. More recycling advertising campaigns and killed bottle-fee bills which have been long proven to massively boost recycling rates but also push the cost of recycling from the consumer onto the manufacturer. That’s also detailed in the previous link.

Don’t ever make the mistake of thinking that large corporations care about this world or anything in it other than profit. They’ll engage in charity as an investment if the campaign offers good return for their brand value and public image, but don’t think for a second we can get capitalists to behave ethically through any other means than forcing them to do it.

Oh and the bells aren’t actual bells, they make no sound, they are called bells due to an old tradition no longer in use

And if anyone wants to use this idea, or some aspects of it, DO IT!!! Use this concept however you like!! Go and create your own braids!!!!!!!!
